Second Editing Blog

 Today in class I sat down and we all watched the commercial. I realized that the commercial was 5 seconds too short. The goal time was for it to be 30 seconds long. We had to fit all aspects of our commercial in 30 seconds. From our edits and storyboard. I had to go back onto my phone to find an extra scene to squeeze in the video. I had a tough time finding a clip that could add to the commercial and looked like it belonged there. Charlie edited the extra scene to fit the aesthetic of the rest of the video. First we chose music for the video but after watching it a few times Wren and I didn't think it went along with the video. I found some Nike commercials on youtube and watched them to see what kind of music went with the theme. We all decided to change it. I spent a while looking through songs. We then found a perfect existing music choice. The song went perfectly with the clip transitions and just fit the video. We purposely chose this song to go with the bulk of the video. We finally thought we finished the commercial. We all watched it again as a group. It was perfect and we all were satisfied with it. We then submitted it to our teacher. I really enjoyed this part of the project.

Title Design Research: Thriller

For our title blog we chose "Splice".  A title sequence from a movie in the thriller genre. Here is some information we pulled for the title sequence. 1. How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? Throughout the 3 minute and 30 second video, the video showed 32 titles scenes. This opening was more like an end credit, it included the producer companies, actors, producers, directors, etc. At the end of the title scene it showed "Splice" with the letters enlarged and held for a few seconds. The camera looked like it was going through the body of something and along the way titles would transition in and slowly fade and a new title was coming in.  2. Our Film

 Yay we finished out film! I'm really proud of my group and I, I think we did a decent job. I'm a little sad this is our last project, I had a lot of fun working on this with my group.

Production (filming)

 So, I had planned to go film at a local park today, but it didn't work out. I got home, gathered my belongings, and was ready to go. I gathered all of our props, including costumes, a fake knife, and other items. But as soon as I stepped outside, it began to rain!! I waited about fifteen minutes for the rain to stop, but it didn't, so my group and I reached a deal. I made the decision to go to Nick's place, where we would be able to work inside. I began by putting the finishing touches on our script and outline. I also observed other films in our genre that have been similar to ours. We noticed a few key details, such as the usage of low perspectives throughout the film. Low angles are also employed to demonstrate the subject's might in these professional films, I noticed. I intended to use this in our film to demonstrate the kidnapper's power.
