Second Filming Blog

 Today, on the second day of filming, my team and I made out way to the gym. At first we ran into some trouble because there was a class in the gym. The gym teacher told us we could use the gym as soon as they left. We walked around looking for a different pace to film so we wouldn't wasted any time. We ended up waiting it out and as soon as the B lunch bell rang the class left. I found a volleyball for Wren and we started filming. I was the one that filmed Wren's half of the commercial. First, I filmed wren holding the volleyball in her hands at an angle where you could also see her knee pads. I had a bit of an issue trying to get the right angle of Wren hitting the ball. I had to take multiple shots. Charlie and Nick helped me figure out how I could get both the use of the nike knee pads and Wren hitting the ball in the video. I had to sit on my knees so that it was at the right angle. Nick and Charlie were throwing the balls to Wren so she could hit it and I could film. After I got the right shot we went back to class. I had a really fun time filming with my team. I think we work really well together and came up with great ideas. Once we got back to class we deleted all the bloopers. We organized our clips to get ready to edit. I sent all the shoots on my phone to Charlie and Wren sent hers too. I think that the filming process went really well and we all day fun together.

Title Design Research: Thriller

For our title blog we chose "Splice".  A title sequence from a movie in the thriller genre. Here is some information we pulled for the title sequence. 1. How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? Throughout the 3 minute and 30 second video, the video showed 32 titles scenes. This opening was more like an end credit, it included the producer companies, actors, producers, directors, etc. At the end of the title scene it showed "Splice" with the letters enlarged and held for a few seconds. The camera looked like it was going through the body of something and along the way titles would transition in and slowly fade and a new title was coming in.  2.  Yay we finished out film! I'm really proud of my group and I, I think we did a decent job. I'm a little sad this is our last project, I had a lot of fun working on this with my group.

Production (filming)

 So, I had planned to go film at a local park today, but it didn't work out. I got home, gathered my belongings, and was ready to go. I gathered all of our props, including costumes, a fake knife, and other items. But as soon as I stepped outside, it began to rain!! I waited about fifteen minutes for the rain to stop, but it didn't, so my group and I reached a deal. I made the decision to go to Nick's place, where we would be able to work inside. I began by putting the finishing touches on our script and outline. I also observed other films in our genre that have been similar to ours. We noticed a few key details, such as the usage of low perspectives throughout the film. Low angles are also employed to demonstrate the subject's might in these professional films, I noticed. I intended to use this in our film to demonstrate the kidnapper's power.
